ConstruGomes is executing the support structure for a storm surge barrier in Nieuwpoort, Belgium.

Nieuwpoort's project involves the construction of a reinforced concrete barrier to protect the coast and inland from flooding generated by severe storms in the Flanders region.

The barrier consists of two 21.15 meters high abutments in reinforced concrete, partially built underwater and which will support a steel barrier. This barrier will rotate around a horizontal axis of cast steel anchored to both abutments.

It is one of the most important structures of this typology built in Belgian territory. This 33 meter wide steel barrier can retain water levels up to 8 meters high.

ConstruGomes is responsible for all formwork and concrete work, contributing significantly to the execution of this project.
