The Strand Jack is a hydraulic system capable of performing the lifting and lowering of structures of high load and dimension. Due to its speed, safety and ease of handling, this system is widely used in the construction and offshore industry.
The system works manually or automatically with high resistance steel cables activated by a hydraulic cylinder. Each unit has two anchoring systems with wedges, one located at the top and the other at the bottom, which tighten and release the cable bundle sequentially, enabling climbing speeds of up to 4 minutes per meter.
In the following video we can see the lifting system in operation, applied to a lower structure of ConstruGomes' FT 5.450 form traveller, which is operating on the Zumelegui project in Spain.
