Description

The main standout feature of this viaduct comes for the origin of the construction process involved which at the time was ground-breaking. For the 70 meters span execution, BERD's superior movable scaffolding system was used, with its main feature the Organic Pre-stressing System (OPS). This innovative system mimics the human muscle, minimizing the deformations and/or stresses caused by live loading.

The village of Cofrentes although not being home to a lot of residents still possesses a great industrial value as it is the home for one of the biggest nuclear power plants in Spain. As a result there was a real need to ensure that the area had good transport links. The resulting construction of this viaduct notably improved the transport links and also great contributed to the region's road safety which before had been very poor due to yhe unsatisfactory and unfit conditions of the surrounding roads.
