Description

Through this new railway connection, the Mexican federal government expects a daily use of up to 270,000 passengers. This will be the equivalent to approximately three times the Azteca Stadium (Mexico City) capacity or 10 times the Nemesio Díez Stadium (Toluca) capacity. The local authorities estimate a reduction of 34,500 metric tons of C02 emissions with the Une running between the two cities. This value represents the oxygen produced by 276 hectares of forest.

The new train connection between Mexico City and Toluca will represent, for those travelling constantly between the two cities, one hour less of travelling time. The current connection between Mexico City and Toluca is responsible for approximately 400 road accidents each year, of which 30 are fatal. With this new connection, the Mexican government intends to mitigate the fatality of this stretch of road and improve the air quality through the introduction of electric train.
